Pre-Op Instructions
- An EKG is required for patients 50 years and older. The EKG must be
read by a medical doctor and submitted well ahead of surgery date to
allow for any consultations, if necessary. Please note: EKG
must be less than 6 months old on day of surgery. Otherwise a new one
will need to be produced and then read and signed by that physician,
prior to the reversal surgery.
- Significant medical problems will require a Medical Clearance form
to be filled out by your doctor (see Forms page
to obtain a copy).
- Make hotel accommodations ahead of
time to avoid the problem of where to stay post-op.
- Shower with antibacterial soap the night before and morning of
surgery.
- Don’t eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery.
- Obtain supporter to wear post-op. Proper fit depends on waist size.
We recommend the following supporters, although similar brands make work
as well. Some online sources for recommended supporters are:
- If you plan to use your credit/debit card, be sure to check your
availability with the bank to be sure your card will be accepted.
- Remember to bring prescription cards for use at the pharmacy for
post-op medications.
- No aspirin products should be taken for at least 3 weeks prior to
surgery. (See list of medications to avoid).
You may resume these products one week after surgery.
- There are NO restrictions on sexual activity pre-op.
